Fresh safety warnings after Keighley waterfall accident leaves boy, 8, fighting for life

Residents close to the waterfall where a boy almost drowned have issued fresh warnings after spotting children continuing to play there today.

Firefighters arrived at an area close to Tinker Bridge, North Dean Road, yesterday morning, after receiving reports of a boy in difficulty in a river.

A team from the Keighley Fire Station entered the water and began searching for the boy alongside police officers and members of the public.

The boy was carried to the bankside where a second fire crew from Bingley resuscitated him with the help of ambulance paramedics.

The boy was flown to Leeds General Infirmary by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance where he is still in a critical condition.
