Chaotic scenes at Horsforth train station are causing commuters to be penalised for being unable to buy tickets.

Horsforth station’s ticketing facilities are failing to cope with the demand during busy times resulting in customers receiving a slap on the wrist when they arrive at Leeds – or worse, a fine.

The ticket office is currently only manned part time, and the the queue for the single self-service often is so long passengers have to choose between missing their train, or being branded a “fare-dodger.”

£3.8m plan for solar panels on 1000 Leeds council properties

Green minded council bosses are set to approve a £3.8 million investment to install solar panel systems on 1000 council owned properties across the city.

The decision is to be made next week in a bid to reducing the council’s carbon footprint.

Councillor Mark Dobson, executive member for cleaner, safer and stronger communities, said: “This would be a significant investment for Leeds and would contribute to the council’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint and becoming more sustainable in its use of energy.”

A new primary care medical centre that has been mooted for Moortown has been given conditional approval, despite the site being on one of Leeds Council’s designated ‘Urban Green Corridors’.
Councillors on the North and East Plans Panel discussed the proposal for a two-storey building with car park on King Lane, Moortown.
They then gave approval for the build last week, with the final say going to the chief planning officer after the public consultation expires in May.
