Breeze Festival is breath of fresh air for Leeds youngsters

A group of 11-16 year olds from Leeds has set up an arts festival which will provide free workshops and performances for young people at the start of the summer holidays.

The Breeze Arts Festival will run from the 18th to the 25th July and includes everything from DJ workshops, illustration classes, flashmobs and live performances.

Yorkshire Voice countdown begins!

Postgraduate journalism students at Leeds Trinity University are counting down to the start of the award-winning Yorkshire Voice production.

From today (Monday July 6th) the nine students will be producing a live web page, and each week day from Monday July 20th to Friday July 31st they will also be producing a rolling TV news bulletin and a fifteen-minute news magazine programme called Yorkshire Voice.

Mobility scooter fire in Ilkley forces elderly residents to evacuate

A blaze forced elderly residents in Ilkley out of their homes last night (Monday) after a mobility scooter caught fire in the garage of a block of flats for the over 55s.

Four fire engines, three police vans and two ambulances attended the fire at Leconfield House on Springs Lane after numerous calls to the emergency services.

Shocked residents were sheltered by staff at the Tesco supermarket across the road, while firefighters used to hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
