Leeds theatre company fights back after having funding stopped

A Leeds theatre company has raised more than £25,000 in one year after having its primary source of funding stopped.

Save Red Ladder was set up as an independent campaign after Red Ladder, the UK’s leading radical theatre company, had all of its funding from the Arts Council stopped on 1 July 2014.

A sixth man has now been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in Leeds, which resulted in the death of 25-year-old James Gilbey.

Four arrests made after Stanningley Bypass hit and run

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and another has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after a 25-year-old man was killed on Stanningley Bypass.

Breast cancer: lumps are not the only symptom, say campaigners

Women in Leeds are being urged to be aware of breast cancer symptoms in a campaign launched today by Public Health England (PHE).

Almost two-hundred women aged seventy and over in Leeds are diagnosed with breast cancer each year; last year more than five-hundred women in Yorkshire and the Humber died of breast cancer, according to PHE Leeds.
