A Yorkshire tailor has unveiled a new Tour de France inspired cycling business suit which is the first of its kind in the UK.

Owen Scott Bespoke Tailors, based in Huddersfield and Leeds, said the new cycling clothing is “the ultimate in cycling wear for businessmen” after the designer ditched lycra shorts and tight t-shirts for a more executive attire.

The Tour de France Cycling Suit, which costs £495, features Le Tour coloured yellow lining, detachable florescent pocket flaps, trouser turn ups and a back collar – all of which are intended to provide road visibility in darker conditions.

Scott Hufton, director at Owen Scott, said: “This suit is new ground for tailoring and ticks all the boxes.

“We’ve been gripped by the Tour de France and with so many more businessmen taking to their bikes as a result, I wanted to design something that would suit their active lifestyle, which was smart, contemporary and could take them straight to the office environment.”

The suit is made using Nanobloc – a material which creates a stain resistance on the fabric and allows liquid to roll off – and it comes with a padded double seat and crotch for comfort when on the saddle.
