Reported sexual offences in West Yorkshire have risen by almost 50% compared to last year, with violent crime offences increasing by over 24%.

Plans to provide extra funding for the expansion of West Yorkshire Playhouse have been approved by Leeds City Council at an Executive Board meeting today.
The plans follow the recent announcement that Leeds will bid to become a European Capital of Culture in 2023.

A sixth man has now been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in Leeds, which resulted in the death of 25-year-old James Gilbey.
