Public turn up in numbers to watch Tour De Yorkshire

Stage One of the Tour De Yorkshire is underway with some of the worlds best cyclists travelling from Bridlington to Scarborough taking in some of East and North Yorkshire’s most picturesque countryside en-route.

Roughly two million people came out to watch the race in 2016 and the public were out in force to see the peloton whizz through the market Town Pocklington.

After an hour and a half of racing the leading pack are three minutes ahead of the peloton with just over 70 miles left to travel today.

The racers will arrive in Whitby for a sprint around 4:15 PM before finishing the day in Scarborough just after 5 PM.

The Tour will be in West Yorkshire on Sunday with stage three of the race starting in Bradford at 12:30 PM.
