Police appeal for witnesses after Bradford sexual assault

by Hayley Longster

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Bradford last Wednesday by a man who stopped her and asked for a cigarette.

The woman was walking along Wakefield Road towards Dudley Hill roundabout around midday when she was approached by the stranger. She refused to give him a cigarette and carried on walking before crossing the footbridge towards Rodley Lane.

The attacker then approached the woman from behind, putting his hands over her groin before quickly leaving the scene.

Detective Constable Richard Thornton, of Bradford District CID, said: “Two men walked past the victim shortly after the attack and may have seen the suspect as he walked away down Wakefield Road, past the junction with Munster Street.

“We are keen to speak to these men or anyone else who may be able to assist the investigation.”

The suspect is fair skinned, in his early twenties, of average build and about 5ft 9ins tall. He also had thick black hair which was long on top and short at the sides with a slight fringe.

He was wearing blue or black jeans and a t-shirt with dark blue and burgundy stripes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Thornton at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
