Huddersfield-born Nina Hossain will be amongst various industry speakers at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week.
Now in its tenth year, Journalism Week has seen its fair share of interesting people and this year will be no exception.
From One Show editor, Sandy Smith, to former Tory politician turned prison chaplain, Jonathon Aitken, speakers will be hosting talks and workshops where students will hear different experiences and advice from individuals who have had long and varying careers in the industry.
Nina Hossain, who works as an ITV news anchor, has interviewed important names in politics like David Cameron and Boris Johnson, as well meeting countless athletes, film stars and musicians.
Hossain studied English Language and Linguistics at Durham University, before gaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
Following her graduation she moved to London to present on The Medical Channel, and a year later she became the launch face of BBC London News, following which she went on to present BBC London’s flagship evening news programme.
Nina joined the ITV news team in 2004 as a co-presenter and since 2010 has been the main presenter of ITV Lunchtime News and ITV News London.
Ahead of her appearance next week, Hossain said: “I am thrilled to be invited to talk at Leeds Trinity University, to help celebrate this milestone anniversary.
“As a proud Yorkshire woman, at a time when the country feels so divided, it is more important than ever to mark the fact that journalism can no longer be London-centric, and journalists must come from all backgrounds, and learn their trade in all parts of the UK.”
Nina Hossain’s talk takes place in the Hallaway Lecture Theatre on 7 November from 2-3pm.
