Leeds Journalism Trainees collaborate with BCB Radio

By Sean Gannon

Trainee journalists from Leeds will be joining forces with an award-winning Bradford radio station to deliver news to West Yorkshire.

Starting today, postgraduates from Leeds Trinity University will be assisting BCB Radio as part of a three-week programme for their Masters courses.

They will be reading out news bulletins, interviewing local people and providing online and social media coverage.

The trainees will be overseen by Richard Horsman, a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at the university with 22 years of experience working in radio.

Mr Horsman said: “The partnership enables the best possible experience of live news for our journalism trainees while providing a significantly enhanced service for listeners of BCB.”

The collaboration has taken place annually since 1993 and 2017 will mark the 24th year that it has taken place.

The student’s first bulletin went out on the air at 9 o’clock this morning.
