In-form Fleetwood travel to Scunthorpe in mid-table clash

By Alex Thurston

Graham Alexander will aim to turn over his old club as The Iron host Fleetwood Town at Glanford Park.

United haven’t been in the best of form over their last few games, falling to two straight defeats at the hands of Rotherham and Wigan.

However, the United boss will be looking for a better show, as Scunthorpe look to overcome a challenge in the shape of Fleetwood Town.

Alexander spoke to the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “I look forward to every game with the same buzz and zest to go and win and tonight is another opportunity to do that.”

Fleetwood’s recent form however is much more impressive, taking four points from their last two fixtures.

After Town successfully defeated Plymouth away from home, they then managed a point at home to a struggling Rochdale side.

Uwe Rösler is respecting the task ahead: “Going to Scunthorpe you will be in for a fight. Graham’s team is always very well organised and we know what we will face.”

Fleetwood forward Devante Cole will be key for Rösler’s side, as he looks to add to his tally for this season, as he currently sits on eight goals for the campaign.

One Fleetwood fan however, had a difference in opinion surrounding the team selection:

The away side will also be thankful for the return of Conor McAleny, who came back from an injury in their last fixture at home to Rochdale. The striker said: “I was at Scunthorpe on my first loan spell and gained a lot of experience. We need to go there and put on a performance and get a positive result.”

The last time these two sides met at Glanford Park, it was Fleetwood who came out on top in a 2-0 victory.
