Clotet’s Oxford are looking to jump above their opponents with a win over Karl Robinson’s men.
Charlton could go as high as third with a win, but Robinson is well aware of the test his team will face, and was full of praise for the visitors in his latest press conference.
He said: “I’ve really enjoyed watching Oxford play building up to this one, they play with a freedom, energy, wingers and get in your face. I said at the start of this season that I thought Oxford would be a dark horse to push on because they have a really good manager, and assistant coach Derek Fazackerely has been there and done it.”
Charlton will be once again without Mark Marshall after he missed Saturday’s win over Doncaster, but Ben Reeves is back in contention after returning from injury. Lewis Page and Harry Lennon remain on the side line.
Clotet believes that fitness will have a big part to play in the game, after both sides ground out 1-0 wins on the weekend.
He said: “We have to think a lot about recovery and try and get the players right and fully recovered but we prepare very thoroughly and I think that has given us the edge in the last few games.”
The Spaniard will have to make at least one change to the side which beat Doncaster, after midfielder Joe Rothwell picked up his fifth booking of the season.

Alex Mowatt is in line to replace Rothwell, after scoring the all-important winner on Saturday. Clotet also has Rob Hall and Jon Obika available to him, after both men returned from injury.
