High flyers Notts County welcome relegation battling Barnet

By Jack Davis

This weekend Barnet travel to Meadow Lane to take on Notts County. The Magpies come into this game sitting 2nd in the table and having won nine out of their twelve matches, having one of the best goal differences in the league. In their most recent game Notts County picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Forrest Green side.

The Notts County boss Kevin Nolan may make changes for the game. Shola Ameobi is fit once again and is in contention to start. Speaking to the Nottingham Post, manager Kevin Nolan said Ameobi is a leader in the dressing room. “It was about what he brings defensively and offensively from set-pieces. He is a leader. I’ve been in a dressing room with him before at Newcastle where I was captain”.

Elliott Hewitt, Haydn Hollis and Nick Hunt could also come into the side. Midfielder Liam Walker is available again after missing last week whilst on international duty with Gibraltar.

Barnet on the other hand come into this game sitting in 19th place having only won three out of twelve games played. The Bees played out a nil-nil draw at home in their last match against the respectable Coventry City.

Barnet top-scorer Shaq Coulthirst will be assessed ahead of the trip to Meadow Lane. The striker, who has six goals has been struggling with a hamstring problem and missed last weekends goalless draw with Coventry.

Bees’ boss, Rossi Eames has no fresh injury concerns but remains without a lot of key first team players who are still out.
