Jake Young closing in on return to squad, confirms Bradford boss

Bradford City manager, Graham Alexander, has confirmed that there is a possibility that star striker Jake Young could make his return to the squad in the upcoming fixture against Swindon Town.

The young player had been on loan at Swindon for the first half of the season and managed to build a terrific record of 16 goals and four assists during his time, and his recall back to Bradford City has left room for considerable speculation about his future.

With reported bids from League One clubs and more gossip around a £200,000 valuation set by Bradford City, which nobody has met, the striker seems set to stay at Bradford but his absence from the squad has caused unrest amongst the fanbase, most of whom want the player to stay at Valley Parade.

The striker is yet to make an appearance for the West Yorkshire side due to an injury he had been playing with at Swindon Town needing to be treated upon his return.

However, Graham Alexander has said, “Jake Young’s been out on the training pitch” and is working with the squad today in training but will look to see the results of the training tomorrow morning.

Alexander has said he wants to be honest with the Bradford fanbase and doesn’t want to hide anything from anyone, especially around the speculation and rumours surrounding Jake Young. In that light, he said: “He is on a normal return to play schedule, that Jamie Walker is on, that Lewis Richards is on and he’s gone through the same protocol as them”.

The side go to Swindon Town this weekend and will hope to replicate the previous result when Bradford took all three points at the University of Bradford Stadium under the previous manager Mark Hughes. However, with big changes to both sides since the last game, Graham Alexander prepares for a fresh challenge and says the “players will be ready for a fresh challenge” as well.
