Huddersfield Town sack manager Darren Moore

There was a shock announcement today from the John Smith Stadium as Terriers boss Darren Moore was relieved of his duties this afternoon.

The west-Yorkshire club released a statement stating that the decision had been made after this weekend’s draw at Queen’s Park Rangers which leaves Moore’s record at Huddersfield at three wins, 11 draws and nine losses in all competitions.

This all comes as a shock to the Huddersfield fans and football fans alike as Kevin Nagle (Owner and Chairman of the club) had made undeniably clear in a recent podcast that Darren Moore “isn’t going anywhere” just 19 days ago.

Today Kevin Nagle said:

“We have to make this decision to give us the best chance of maintaining our Sky Bet Championship status come the end of the season.

“Darren is a fantastic man, and he has worked tirelessly since taking the job back in September. I know I speak for everyone at the club in wishing him the very best for the future.”

In the statement, it was noted by the owner of the mitigating circumstances Moore and his managerial team had to navigate through such as frequent injuries throughout the season.

It has been confirmed that Jon Worthington will take temporary charge of the first-team for the upcoming fixture when Huddersfield take on Moore’s previous club Sheffield Wednesday.
