Parliament to decide on calls for a snap general election

By Sean Gannon

Theresa May has been facing the Commons today, following her shock call for a snap general election.

The Prime Minister will be asking MPs later to back her plans for a poll on June 8.

She is expected to easily win the two-thirds majority support she needs from members in the Commons later – with both Labour and the Liberal Democrats welcoming a June vote.

However, Mrs May has ruled out the idea of facing her opposition in TV debates.

Meanwhile, people in Bradford have been telling BCB Radio that they think the Prime Minister’s decision is a purely political move.
