Yorkshire Ambulance Service is asking people to think twice before calling for an ambulance over the festive period.
Andy Hughes, clinical supervisor, asked the public to consider whether calling 999 is the most appropriate option.
Anyone with a minor injury or illness can consult their local pharmacist or GP, attend a minor-injuries unit or call NHS 111 for advice.
In 2018, Yorkshire Ambulance Service dealt with over 65,000 calls in the three-week festive period from December 17.
The service is expecting the busiest day in 2019 to be December 20, also known as “Mad Friday”, the last Friday before Christmas.
