World Cup Group B Preview

Group B have their last 2 games to play both at 7pm on November 29th with all four teams still having a chance to qualify into the last 16. As it stands England have the best chance of qualification as all they need to do is avoid defeat against Wales who will do their very best as they need to win by a score line of at least 4 for even a chance of progressing out of the group and that also has them relying on the other game in the group Iran and USA drawing. England could still progress even with a loss to Wales but that comes down to the result of the other game. Iran and USA have an almost playoff game for the final spot out of the group with a win for either side sending them into the last 16. Both games are set up to be fun and full of emotion as everything is on the line in this one.

England have played Wales 4 times since 2011 picking up wins in all of them with the most recent being in October 2020 the game was a friendly and ended 3-0 with goals from Danny Ings, Conor Coady and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The only one of these three at the 2022 world cup with England is Conor Coady who is yet to play at the tournament. They meet each other again tonight at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar with both teams expecting to go full strength this game will see England go out and try and put an end to Wales’ world cup fairy-tale. The referee for the game goes by the name of Slavko Vincic. He gives out an average of 6 cards per game, so he won’t fear getting his cards out for anything.

The other side of the group takes place at the Al Thumama Stadium in Ad-Doha, Qatar were Iran play USA for the first time ever with a lot at stake as the winner progresses to the round of 16 at this years world cup an incredible achievement for either team. The referee for the game is Spanish official Antonio Mateu who also averages 6 cards per game so just like the referee for the England vs Wales game this referee will be taking no nonsense.

The stars so far this world cup campaign has to be the likes of Luke Shaw who has been a great in both games keeping a clean sheet in one and assisting in the other, another is Bukayo Saka who had scored twice against Iran and Harry Kane has provided two assists but is still looking for that first goal he will be hoping it comes against rivals Wales.

Wales haven’t looked the best so far but could change that in their last game against England with them so far only scoring once and that being a penalty by Gareth Bale, other than Bale their best player has been Ben Davies.

Iran’s best player so far has been their star striker Mehdi Tamemi who has scored twice for Iran, and he has also picked up an assist in one of his two games so far.

USA have drawn both of their games so far but a standout player for them has to be Matt Turner in goal keeping them in it at times against England another player that has been great for them is Timothy Weah who has scored their only goal so far in the tournament.
