Slingsby Gin and local Rudding Park based golf academy, Grooves Golf, are trying to change the game when it comes to ladies golf. The two Yorkshire companies have partnered together to run introductory golf days for female golfers of all skill levels.
Both companies had noticed a lack of diversity within the sport and decided teaming up together could help tackle the issue head-on. Their golf days include lessons, group activities, a lunch and plenty of gin for attendees.
Clare Gibson, Slingby’s Marketing Director, said: “We’ve had such a positive reaction, because there’s nobody else doing it.” The collaboration has seen the event run on three different occasions now with the latest event attracting over 40 local women to try their hand at the sport.
Steph Davies, PGA Professional with Grooves Golf, said: “The hope is to just get more ladies playing, whether you want to play serious competitions or you want to come and have a laugh with your mates. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re out in the fresh air.”
