Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 67-year-old woman at a property on Talbot Avenue in Moortown, North Leeds.

Officers were contacted by a man at 10pm last night concerning a woman who was found dead. West and North Yorkshire Police forces began enquiries to find the man due to concerns over his welfare.

A body of a 54-year-old man was also found at 2:30am today at the bottom of Malham Cove in North Yorkshire.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Dunkerley, from West Yorkshire Police Protective Services (Crime), said: “Our enquiries are still at an early stage but we are treating the woman’s death as murder.

“We are not yet in a position to confirm the identities of those involved. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
