Skipton Ladies 12-28 Yarnbury Ladies

Yanrbury Ladies continue to gain success as they win in the third round of the Yorkshire Cup.

They also avenged their 22-17 loss against Skipton back in September.

It was almost the perfect start for Skipton after so many penalties awarded, they were close to scoring a try until Yarnbury were able to get the ball back and it was starting to go Yarnbury’s way. Yarnbury were getting closer to the try line and then they would be awarded a penalty, it was Skipton’s centre Saima Hussain who was penalised for a high tackle and she would see a yellow card for the infringement. The women in blue would finally score when flanker Ellie Brash crashed over the line to score the first try of the match and prop Georgia Thompson converted. It wouldn’t be long for Yarnbury to score again when prop Rachel Barker ran down the line, she found number eight and captain Lauren Morgan who she offloaded to and she would score down the corner and Thompson scored another conversion and the score would remain 0-14 to Yanrbury at halftime.

The second was tight with many scrums and big hits until Yarnbury scored the first try of the half. Great bit of defending from Skipton until second row Rebecca Foster found some space and scored the try and Thompson successfully scored the conversion. Skipton would finally score their first try when number eight Charlotte Knowles was able to get over the line to score and centre Jessica Matthews failed to convert. Skipton would score again when second row Bethany Wade managed to score and Matthews was able to convert this time. Yarnbury responded well when Barker managed to break through the Skipton defence and scored the try which lead to a conversion from Thompson. With this win Yanrbury progress further into the Yorkshire cup, with the next team yet to be confirmed.
