Marcelo Bielsa’s side are looking to kick on from their 4-3 win against Fulham last weekend and this is a perfect opportunity due to Sheffield United’s unexpected slow start after being the Premier Leagues surprise package last season.

The Blades have lost their first two league games of the season without even scoring a goal, after losing 1-0 away at Aston Villa and 2-0 at home to Wolves. Sheffield United have arguably failed to bring in Premier League quality signings during the summer transfer window, however the same happened last season and they went onto finish 9th in the league, just 5 points off qualifying for the Europa League.

Leeds United bolstered their defence by bringing in Diego Lllorente from Real Sociedad this week, as they look to tighten up at the back after conceding 7 goals in their opening 2 Premier League games. The centre back has made 5 appearances for the Spanish national team and made 30 appearances for Real Sociedad as they finished 6th in La Liga last season.

The clubs last met in the Championship on the 16th of March 2019 as a Chris Basham winner won the game for Sheffield United at Elland Road which proved to be vital as The Blades just edged Leeds United to Premier League promotion that season.

Team news:

Sheffield United will be without defender John Egan following his red card against Wolves last Monday. Wilder will look to veteran Phil Jagieka or loan signing Ethan Ampadu. Lys Mousset is still out due to a toe injury.

Leeds United will be without the influential Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw due to injury.
