Crimestoppers have doubled the reward money on offer for any information that leads to the arrest of John Heald, who’s still on the run a week after the death of a guest house landlady.
John Heald, 53, from the Rotherham area is wanted by Humberside Police in connection with the murder of Bei Carter, 49, at a guest house in
Bridlington on Friday July 18.
Medical tests revealed that Mrs Carter died from a single stab wound to the chest and Crimestoppers have appealed for members of the public to come forward as the manhunt enters its seventh day.
South Yorkshire Police have released an image believed to be John Heald in B&M Bargains, Mexborough, at 4.15pm on Saturday July 19.
Chief Superintendent Jason Harwin has stressed the urgent need to catch the killer and has appealed to the public to help.
He said: “We have released this image in the hope that it will jog someone’s memory and encourage them to get in touch with police if they have seen this man.
“We are still receiving calls from members of the public and I would like to reiterate my thanks for their continued support.
“It might be that there are people looking after him who don’t know what to do. This man is wanted in connection with a murder and serious sexual assault we need to speak to him.
“I urge anyone who has seen him or has information as to his whereabouts to contact police immediately.”
Members of the public are being urged to phone 999 if they have any information that will lead to an arrest.
