This was the third game for Pudsey mixed, previously they won against Huddersfield but lost against York Trojans on penalty shuffles.

Coming into this game, was a level playing field, but Pudsey needed to win this third game to get through to the knockouts.

Throughout the game, the pressure was high.

Pudsey won the coin flip and had first pushback; they controlled the ball around the pitch with hard short passes at first to get a feel for the game.

Sheffield Bankers automatically felt threatened, as they started not controlling the ball well and players like Thomas Craddock from the Pudsey side, were holding the middle of the midfield well.

Sheffield played around the back using their defence well, Pudsey were keeping their pressure on, hoping the ball would get loose.

20 minutes in there was a break in the Blankers defence and Johnathan Woodhouse weaved his way around the defence which included Josie Cowell as the goalkeeper.

He got the ball around her and scored! 1-0.

Players from Pudsey mixed were using the width to break through, Kelsey Nolan: the captain for Pudsey Ladies Hockey team was using that space nicely, to work the ball up.

After half time, it was still a major battle between both teams.

Both teams won a few short corners throughout the 70 minutes.

Sheffield won another for a stick tackle in the D circle, which Pudsey mixed defence obviously didn’t let it go in the goal. Joe Sanderson: the goalie and captain for Pudsey mixed, saved a goal after a deflection.

Both teams battled until the last minute, if the Sheffield Bankers side score a goal, it would be a draw so it would have to go to penalty shuffles which are 1-1 fight between a outfield player and the goalkeeper.

Both teams would have 5 chances to score, the most goals scored out of the five would win.

Luckily the whistle blew and Pudsey won! Everyone shook hands and celebrated, Pudsey are now through to the next round for knockouts.

The draw will decide who Pudsey mixed will be playing next time.

The officials for this match were Jonathan Williams and Sophie Jerzejczak.
