Oldham’s Stephen Robinson is hoping that his team can lift themselves out of the bottom three in the table this weekend with a win over Peterborough United.
Oldham are without a win in the league since mid-October. After struggling to score in many of their games this season the pressure is starting to mount on their manager.
The Latics did see a slight change of luck in midweek though as substitute Carl Winchester rescued a 2-2 draw with Port Vale in the final minute of the match.
That result wasn’t enough to lift them out of the relegation zone though, and as the pressure starts to mount on Robinson, the chairman Simon Corney of the club has shown his support for the manager.
He told the Oldham Chronicle: “I feel tremendously for Stephen because we have come so close on so many occasions. We’ve never had a harder-working manager, the players are working hard too, but it’s just not been going for us.”
Peterborough will see this as a game that they need to win in order to achieve a tighter grip on their play-off place after suffering a 2-0 mid-week defeat to Scunthorpe. They currently sit sixth in the table.
The loss to Scunthorpe was their first in six games, but had they won, they would see themselves in a more secure position in the play-off places.
For Posh, however, this week has been overshadowed by Twitter abuse from their fans aimed at their star player Marcus Maddison.
After the loss to Scunthorpe, Maddison reacted to the tweets and has been told by his manager Grant McCann to “let his football do the talking” instead.
sorry I didn't realise I was such a liability to the team, I was under the impression we'd be in league 2 without me last year.

Speaking to ‘ThePoshTV’, McCann has said that he believes Oldham will be a tough test for his team.
McCann will have to make at least one change to the side this weekend as defender Jack Baldwin is suspended, but he has no new injury worries ahead of the tie.
Oldham’s only injury worry for the game is midfielder Paul Green who would be returning form suspension but is now a doubt with a calf flare.
