Leeds Trinity University will this weekend play host to a national audio-visual competition organised by the Royal Photographic Society.

The National Audio-Visual Championships (NAVC) will be held at the Brownberrie Lane campus on October 5 and 6 2019.

The 21st biennial championship will see around 70 participants submit their picture-to-music videos.

The winner is selected by a panel of three judges.

This year’s judges include Keith Leedham, Yorkshire-based Bryan Stubbs and Jill K Bunting.

One of those entering is life-long Horsforth resident Howard Taylor, 80 (pictured), a member of Leeds AV Group.

“I’ve been in a photographic club since 1974. We meet up at Cookridge every fortnight during the winter season”, he said.

Howard was previously a member of Horsforth Photographic Club before it disbanded due to low membership last year.

His work focuses mainly on wildlife and landscape photography.

Howard’s entry to the competition is a montage of photos taken of The Yorkshire Dales over a two-week period in the winter of 2017.

However, it is not just the moors that Howard has photographed; over the years he has taken snaps all around the country from the Lake District to the highest pub in England, Tan Hill in Richmond.

Information about future events held by The Royal Photographic Society can be found on rps.org. Tickets for the NAVC event will be available on the door.
