Man extradited back to UK over attempted murder and rape in Beeston

A man suspected of the attempted rape and murder of an 18-year-old woman in Beeston is being extradited from Slovakia back to the UK.

Detective Superintendent Nick Wallen, from West Yorkshire Police, said: ‘‘The 21-year-old, who was arrested from the Kosice area of Slovakia on the 4 June, is due to be brought back to the UK later this week and is expected to be charged and to appear before magistrates.’’

The Slovakian national was arrested by local police after West Yorkshire detectives investigating the attack on the woman on 6 March this year secured a European Arrest Warrant.

The arrested man was identified as a suspect as a result of international enquiries by officers from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
