A man has appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of a woman who was attacked on a canal towpath in Leeds.
Kevin Wyment, 53, from Landseer Drive, Bramley is accused of attacking Michaela Heaton, who died of serious head injuries on Thursday evening.
Ms Heaton, 38, died of her injuries in Leeds General Infirmary after the assault on the towpath at Armley near the junction of Canal Road.
Mr Wyment was remanded in custody and will appear at Leeds Crown Court on July 23.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crime as well as trying to trace Ms Heaton’s relatives.
