A 46-year-old man has been bailed following his arrest yesterday, as part of the investigation into the murder of Claudia Lawrence.
Miss Lawrence, 35, of Heworth, York, disappeared in March 2009 and after extensive searches of the area police have since treated her disappearance as murder.
North Yorkshire police said: “Detectives investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence can confirm that the 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice earlier today has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
Police began searching the Acomb pub, on Kingsway in Acomb, York, thought to be one of the places Miss Lawrence – who was a chef the University of York – socialised before she vanished in 2009, at 8am yesterday morning.
A 59-year-old man was arrested on May 13, on suspicion of murdering Miss Lawrence, and he remains on bail pending further inquiries.
Police have appealed for anyone with information regarding the investigation to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, or alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

A £10,000 Crimestoppers reward is still available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Miss Lawrence’s disappearance.
