Marcelo Bielsa has injury worries going into bottom of the table clash with Frank Lampard’s Everton.
15th place Leeds United are wanting to keep up their good form away from home after a 3-3 draw with Aston Villa where Daniel James was the star man for the club. Scoring two goals at Villa Park, fans must be hoping for the Welshman to keep up the good form he’s in to stay out the relegation zone.
Nevertheless Bielsa’s side is still not up to par with injuries plaguing the squad. The manager said in a press conference earlier today that there is “No Phillips, Cooper, Firpo and Bamford,” in the squad for the clash against Everton. The Yorkshire side has been missing their key midfielder Kalvin Phillips since December and with Patrick Bamford out from his January injury, fans will be hoping James steps back up to the plate.
However Leeds aren’t the only side with injuries with Lampard’s Everton missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Vitalii Mykolenko and Fabian Delph for the clash tomorrow. But, the manager wasn’t concerned about the injuries in the press conference earlier having faith in youngster Anthony Gordon.
Lampard was quick to call Gordon a “talented young player who clearly has a strong connection with fans” tipping that he may be starting in the game. Another player tipped to start for Everton is Donny Van de Beek after his big move to the club following his harsh treatment at Manchester United.
With Everton not having a single win in the last five premier league matches, Bielsa’s side must be confident after putting up such a performance at Villa Park. A win against the blues would give Leeds a significant gap between them and Everton with a 4 point gap already between them.
Lets hope that Leeds can perform in this match and keep themselves out of the relegation zone.
