Struggling Huddersfield Town looking to get crucial win againsts visiting Wrexham in the hopes of revitalising their promotion charge to the championship.
The clash at The John Smith’s Stadium tommorow night is setting up to be a major tie in deciding which club can accomplish automatic promotion in to the championship next season. Both teams head in to this game in decent form with three wins from their last five outings in the league however, Wrexham are certainly the favourites as they sit higher in the table with four points between the two as they push for automatic qualification. “We’re at home against a big team in the league. They’re above us in the table so we can get right on their shirt tails if we can beat them” was the mindset of head coach Micheal Duff as he looks hopefully towards the upcoming fixtures and pushing for that crucial automatic promotion spot.
Huddersfield currently sit just 4 points behind Wrexham in the league table so, if they win tomorrow, they can close that gap to just one point while closing the gap on Wycombe (who sit second in the table) to just three points while they still need to play each other in the coming weeks. Winning tomorrow needs to be the start of a good run of form for Huddersfield if they want to end the season at second place, guaranteeing promotion.

Ruben Roosken, who was a key signing during the January transfer window, is hoping to make a big impact in the push for promotion as he said ”That’s the reason I came here to be honest, I could have gone to the championship but I wanted to play on top, in the top of the league instead of the bottom. Yeah, it’s still my goal to help the team go up.” The Dutch fullback has only made five appearances for the Terriers in the league however, he has impressed and grown in to his game as time has gone on since signing in January where he had a horror debut, being sent off in the latter stages of the 0-0 draw against Rotherham. However, he now has confidence in his ability to play and in making a difference to the current Huddersfield team which is still yet to win a home game in the league this calendar year saying that “I don’t know any player or any team in this league so I just trust myself, believe in my own game”
Its clear to see that, while injury riddled, this is a Huddersfield side that are confident in beating Wrexham tomorrow night and maintaining a charge for automatic promotion. Wrexham are a team on form; winning three of their last five games and having the same away record. It will be a crucial fixture for both teams’ season going forward and a must watch no matter who you support.
