The Whites have had a season to forget and will need reinforcements in a lot of areas on the pitch, certainly in midfield and attack
Midfield
Leeds have struggled in front of goal having only scored 42 in the league, compared to first seasons 62. They are craving an attacking midfielder to create more chances and Luka Ivanusec could be the answer. The 23 year old Croatian international has five goals and eight assists across 42 games this season. The player can also play on the right side of midfield so he can offer versatility which can be beneficial if Jesse Marsch wants different tactical systems.
Another potential good signing would be 21 year old James Garner. The youth international has had a terrific season at Nottingham Forest following a loan move from Manchester United. He has played a pivotal role in Steve Cooper’s side and has even earned praise from Jurgen Klopp. The defensive midfielder could be the perfect replacement for Kalvin Phillips who has been heavily linked with a move away from Leeds.
Following the signing of Brenden Aaronson, the American revolution may continue in West Yorkshire with the signing of Tyler Adams. The deep lying midfielder made 36 appearances for RB Leipzig this season but his game time was reduced after the sacking of Marsch in December. Adams had been shown faith by Marsch which could make the 23 year old push for a move.
Attack
Jack Harrison has strongly been linked with a move to Newcastle and if the switch to the Northeast is made, then the left side of attack needs repair. Ryan Kent scored three goals and had 17 assists this season in 38 appearances which massively helped Rangers reach the Europa League final. The former Liverpool player has just over a year left on his contract and with him being 25, the prime years of his career will surely want to be spent at the highest level.
Patrick Bamford has been plagued by injuries this season which only leaves Leeds with one other available striker in Joe Gelhardt. Injury prone Bamford can’t be relied on so a move for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson could be ideal. The Welshman has 19 goals this season and was named the Championship’s Young Player of the season. He has been lethal under Steve Cooper and if Forest don’t earn promotion to the Premier League then a move could well be on the cards.
Eddie Nketiah is a name Leeds supporters all recall after he suffered a disappointing loan spell at the club a few years ago under Marcelo Bielsa. However, he has found his shooting boots at Arsenal towards the end of season and has made himself a starter. Rumours are circulating that the North London side are hunting for a big name striker to boost top four hopes so Leeds may take a shot at securing his signature.
