Former rugby stars Doddie Weir and Rob Burrows have teamed up with Spirit of Harrogate to create ‘75 Gin’ in aid of Motor Neurone Disease.
Both Weir, former rugby union star, and Burrows, Leeds Rhinos legend, have been diagnosed with the debilitating disease.
They have partnered with the Harrogate company, best known for their Slingsby gin, to develop a new premium product.
The gin is available to purchase now with all profits going to MND research for the two rugby greats to raise awareness for the cause so close to their hearts.
The name ‘75 Gin’ is derived from the two players’ numbers from their playing days.
Spirit of Harrogate co-founder and managing director, Marcus Black, said: “As huge rugby fans, we were completely moved by the fortitude, determination and bravery of these two former athletes.
“We worked with both players to reflect their respective careers and personalities in the artwork and the flavour profile of the gin.
“Everyone involved with this project is delighted with the outcome and wish 75 gin every success.
“More than that though, we are just glad that in some small way we can support both Rob and Doddie and their amazing families and friends.”
