David Ward: “I’m no anti-Semite”

By Alex Miller

Bradford councillor David Ward has hit back against claims of antisemitism after his controversial sacking from the Liberal Democrat candidacy for the Bradford East seat at the forthcoming General Election.

In a short statement, party leader Tim Farron claimed that Ward was ‘unfit to represent the party’, and that he believes in a ‘politics that is open, tolerant and united’.

Mr Ward had been accused of holding antisemitic views following a number of comments made championing the Palestinian cause.

In an exclusive interview with our man Matthew Brannen, Mr Ward said he refutes the claims in the strongest possible terms.
