Dave Allen set for tasty Yorkshire heavyweight derby on Sky Sports Box-Office

By Joe Hewlett

Dave Allen has been confirmed on tonight’s undercard with David Haye and Tony Bellew headlining the show.

‘The White Rhino’ will go head to head against fellow Yorkshireman and heavyweight David Howe. Allen was victorious on the undercard of Gavin McDonnell’s brave but ultimately losing attempt at the hands of Rey Vargas for the vacant WBC world super-bantamweight title. He blasted out Hungarian boxer Lukasz Rusiewicz  in just 31 SECONDS to claim his first win in eleven months after previously losing his last two bouts against Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz.

Allen, who was a formersupply teacher in Doncaster was confirmed as a new addition to the Matchroom stable last month with Eddie Hearn announcing that Allen would be his latest project with targets of a domestic showdown with the likes of Sam Sexton at the end of the year. There has been no confirmation as of yet to what time Allen will be fighting tonight but coverage will begin at 6 and he is expected to feature on one of the first fights of the night.

In other news regarding tonight’s fight, the likes of Haye, Bellew and Lee Selby featured at the 02 Indigo Arena to showcase their skills at the public work out. ‘The Hayemaker’ was quick the squash rumours of a potential achilles injury as he wowed the London audience with trainer Shane McGuigan.

Haye and Bellew will finally settle their bad-blood tonight with the walk-in estimated at 10.30 pm tonight. The fight has grabbed the public’s imagination after numerous of heated arguments between the pair led to extra security being hired to keep them separated at all times from one another. It will be the first time ‘Bomber’ Bellew has fought at heavyweight whilst Haye will be fighting on Sky Sports Box-Office for the first time since his underwhelming points defeat to Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.
