The Guide Dogs charity has issued a “call to action” over the lack of audio announcements on buses.
They’re worried that because of this lack of technology many are missing their stops.
Debbie Linford from the Guide Dogs charity said: “Cane users and dog users generally learn routes so if for some reason they get off at the wrong stop they’re stepping into the unknown, they might as well be on mars”.
“We’ve heard stories where people have been completely forgotten, there was one lady who was almost locked in a bus depot because the driver forgot to let her know when she’d reached her stop”.
The charity is planning to submit a petition to Downing Street next month calling for all buses in the UK to be fitted with audio technology.
