Broadcast giant Steph McGovern to appear at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week

Former BBC reporter and Channel 4 presenter Steph McGovern is set to speak at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week in November.

Ms McGovern will reflect on her time as BBC Breakfast’s main business presenter and will discuss how she transitioned from the role to hosting her very own Channel 4 daytime show, Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The programme broadcasts live from Leeds every weekday, and has featured guest stars including Katherine Ryan, Alex Brooker, Lady Leshurr and Gemma Atkinson.

Darren Harper, lecturer in Radio Journalism and course leader of Sports Journalism, said: “I’m really excited about hearing from Steph McGovern, she has an amazing story to tell and not the usual journey into journalism.

“I think it’s a real coup for Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week to confirm such an amazing speaker – and I’m sure students will gain so much out of listening to her.”

Alongside hosting her own television show, Ms McGovern presents a fortnightly podcast, Not Bad for a Monday.

Together with her childhood friend, the broadcaster tackles strange and funny issues that occur in the workplace.

Ms McGovern’s talk, From Business Breakfasts to Packed Lunches, will take place at 3pm on Wednesday 2 November 2020.

The talk will be live streamed to YouTube and Facebook.
