Bristol City have eyes on top six spot as Rovers arrive

Championship: Bristol City v Blackburn Rovers

By William Maxwell

Bristol City could move into the top six of the Championship with a win over Blackburn Rovers at Ashton gate.

The Robins have had a stutter in form of late, losing two games on the bounce.

Hope returns with Tammy Abraham hoping to regain his fine scoring form in the league, finding the net eight times so far this campaign, making him the Championship’s second highest goal scorer.

However they may be without important midfielder Bobby Reid, who suffered a dead leg in their 1-0 defeat to QPR in midweek.

Reid is the only doubt for the Robins who Head Coach Lee Johnson said is ‘a 50/50 at the moment as we stand’.

Blackburn broke a three game winless run with 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in their last match, leapfrogging them over Cardiff City and out of the relegation zone.

Top scorer Sam Gallagher increased his tally up to five for the season with a brace against Forest and will have to be in form again on Saturday if they wish to move away from the bottom three, which they are only separated by on goal difference.

Full back Derrick Williams will return to the club where he had previously spent three years at after moving to Ewood Park in the summer.

‘I went there as a 20 year-old, made my league debut and had a great time’ said Williams in an interview with Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers have no new injury concerns, so will still be without long term absentees Elliot Ward and Adam Henley, whilst Danny Graham remains out with a groin injury and so will not play against the side he scored a brace against last time out: a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park last April.
