Christmas shoppers should take note as Bradford’s Westfield Shopping Centre is set to open its doors in late 2015.
At a guided tour yesterday it was confirmed that the £260 million development, on Westfield Broadway, will meet its target for opening late next year.
Westfield’s Project Director, Mervyn Lowe, was pleased the shopping centre was going to meet its target opening date and put it down to a productive summer.
He said: “I’m really pleased with what’s been done so far. We had a really good summer and we’ve made use of that and hope to be water tight by Christmas.”
The new shopping centre will have around 1,200 car parking spaces across five levels and has confirmed that Marks & Spencer’s and Debenhams will be among chains that will opening branches at the centre.
It is also anticipated that Westfield Shopping Centre will create around 2,500 new retail jobs in the city.
Bradford Councillor, David Green, is confident that the centre will bring back the city’s unique retail culture that it once had.
He said: “With those links which we’ve spent a long time planning with Westfield will see a return of restaurants, retailers and businesses that will give Bradford its unique retail it used to have.
