Crewe Alexandra take on Morecambe at Gresty Road with the hosts desperate for three points and the visitors trying to avoid the relegation zone.
Steve Davis’ Crewe side are close to the possible play-off positions against Jim Bentley’s Morecambe, who are currently only three points outside of the drop zone.
Crewe are coming off the back of an extremely lucky point gained away at Barnet in a game they were expected to win. Manager Davis has been speaking to the club’s press recently. He mentioned the addition of two strikers coming back into the squad should give them the edge they were missing against Barnet.
The return of first team striker Chris Dagnall and Chelsea loanie Alex Kiwomya is a massive factor in this fixture. In the match before Kiwomya picked up a small injury just over a week ago, he received a man of the match award for his performance and goal in a defeat against Plymouth. Hi shared his joy on his Instagram account.
Bentley is aiming to lift The Shrimps up and away from the relegation zone with a win. Morecambe’s previous game resulted in an expected 2-0 defeat at home to fourth place Luton. The club’s Twitter account posted a post-match press conference for that game.

In the same clip, Bentley can be heard speaking to the press after the game about this fixture saying: “We’ll do our own work on Crewe, we’ll look at where their strengths and weaknesses are, we’ll go with a game plan, the lads will be prepared right and they’ll go and give it their all again like they have done today.”
The fully fit Morecambe side have another big challenge against Crewe but the manager believes that his club’s strong work ethic will be enough to pull them further up the table.
