Sherburn drama tribe band together to mark second year anniversary

Northern Star Acting Group – Sherburn in Elmet

By Anna Riley

Drama students at an award winning acting company have celebrated their second year of success this month.

Northern Star Acting, who run classes in both Leeds and Sherburn in Elmet, are hoping for many more triumphs to come.

The organisation specialises in training actors from the age of five and above to get them in to film and TV.

Eirian Cohen, director at Northern Star Acting said: “There is such a great vibe at the classes we run – everyone supports one another through bad times and good, both personally and professionally.

“I can’t believe that it has been two years since we started – time has flown by.

“We don’t have an acting group, we have a tribe, so it’s more than a drama club, it’s a community.”

The company have previously won nine awards for a film that starred a Hollywood actress and many of their movies have gone on to be shown at the film festival circuit.

The 10 person tribe at Sherburn has started rehearsals for a cult horror film called ‘Cure’, written by one of it’s members.

Sharon Spink, actress at Northern Star Acting in Sherburn, said: “I love being part of the tribe – the group are a great bunch of people who are always there to talk to, both online and offline.

“Of course I love acting too – I hadn’t done it since I was at school, but I’ve soon picked it up again.

“Here’s to many more years to come.”

The acting troupe aim for their next film to be released at the end of summer and have high hopes for another accolade.
