Premier League Darts will be making its Leeds debut at the First Direct Arena tonight.
Arena press officer Rebecca Armstrong said: “Hosting the event is absolutely brilliant and a great honour.”
The game, expected to attract 11,000 fans, will feature defending champion Michael van Derwen, who will being playing against Scotsman Gary Anderson, and six-time British champion Phil Taylor, who is playing against fellow Brit Wes Newton.
This will be stage seven of the league and players will be competing to avoid relegation after week nine.
Phil Taylor has been having a difficult run recently but has done well at the game in Nottingham and is hoping to return back to form tonight.
Taylor said: “I’m still in the mix for the bottom but I’ll keep fighting and try not to get pushed out.”
However the tournament so far has proven lucky for another Scotsman, Peter Wright, who is currently at the top of the leaderboard.
Peter said: “It was a dream at first, but now it’s getting to a stage where I can’t lose.
“I want to be unbeaten until the cut off at Week 9, and hopefully I’ll do that.”
