Warnock wants to “eliminate silly mistakes” against Burnley.

Huddersfield Town will be heading to play top of the league Burnley on Saturday. They are going to Turf Moor in good spirits as they beat 19th placed Birmingham 2-1 in Neil Warnock’s first game back coming from behind. However, Burnley are coming back off a 1-1 draw away to Milwall. That draw makes it a streak of 13 games unbeaten in the EFL Championship.

Huddersfield are heading into this game as massive underdogs and in the press conference Neil Warnock acknowledges the mountain they have to overcome to get three points from this game.

“I don’t want the supporters to think this is negative, Burnley away is not going to keep us up. If anybody got a slight knock I’d rather them miss Burnley and be ready for Coventry and Bristol City”. But he does say that he doesn’t want to make it easy for Burnley, he wants the team to “eliminate silly mistakes that will gift them the game”.

Warnock is looking at future games for survival and realises that Burnley will be a very tough challenge for them to overcome.

However, Joseph Hungbo who scored against Birmingham in their 2-1 victory says “I feel like if we go in to the game with all the confidence, all the momentum I can’t see why we can’t get a result”.

Huddersfield have not been at their best away from home this season, they have the worst record away from home this season in the championship. They have picked up just 10 points all season when they are away whereas Burnley have the best home record in the championship this season, picking up 41 points from 17 games. Huddersfield have not won their last 5 away matches whereas Burnley have not lost at home all season. Their two losses have came away from home: Watford and Sheffield united.

Burnley are heavy favourites to win this game and it’s hard to see past a Burnley victory, but Huddersfield have just picked up a victory and this momentum could make the game very interesting. If Huddersfield does get all three points then it’s a huge statement for their survival charge however Warnock reiterated in his press conference that this game doesn’t affect their survival chances.
