Tough task for Stevenage at Kenilworth Road

By Jack Cousin

Luton Town host seventh-placed Stevenage at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters boast the best home record in the league, winning five of their six games so far this season.

Luton have midfielder Luke Gambin available for selection after he missed last weekend’s victory at Accrington due to international duty with Malta. Fullback Dan Potts though begins his suspension.

Stevenage welcome back Dale Gorman, Ben Kennedy and Terence Vancooten after international exploits. However, the game comes too soon for Jack King and Mark McKee, who are still injured.

Stevenage have won their last three games against Luton including a 2-0 win at Kenilworth Road last campaign. It is a record that Hatters boss Nathan Jones is aware of.

Jones told the club website: “They have done very well when they’ve come to us and when we have gone there. I can’t say we have played badly in all the games because we haven’t, but we haven’t got the result and that’s the thing we have got to put right.”

Darren Sarll’s squad includes a number of players who have previously represented Luton Town. They include former skipper Ronnie Henry, Luke Wilkinson, Fraser Franks, Josh McQuoid and Jonathan Smith.

On the opposition, Sarll said: “We know Luton are going to play good football, they always have done under Nathan. We know it will be a tactical game, it will be very intense. You throw in the derby, you throw in being at Kenilworth and the atmosphere it generates there.”
