Otley and Chapel Allerton Best Places to Live, says Times.

Otley and Chapel Allerton are two of the best places to live in the UK, according to a national broadsheet newspaper.

The Sunday Times will include the West Yorkshire towns in its yearly supplement Best Places to Live in Britain this Sunday.

Compiling 101 places which are selected for offering the best quality of life to the widest number of people, both towns are new to the list.

Criteria includes good crime rates, house prices and school performance, as well as great community spirit, amenities and attractive features.

Leader of Otley Town Council John Eveleigh said: “It is a great accolade to have and I am sure the town will be proud.

“There is so much going for us. People genuinely do look out for each other.

“From cradle to grave, there’s something for everyone,” he added.

Mr Eveleigh also said that the first class primary schools worked together and the that the town boasts a great community spirit founded on helping those less fortunate.

Lifelong resident Andrea Atwood, 53, said: “I think it is really good – people might invest.

“It is a nice little market town and we are getting a lot more people up from down south.”
