Norwich City look to continue their 80 year success over Barnsley FC

By Millie Horne

Norwich will be looking to retain their previous success against Barnsley Saturday. The Canaries have bested the Tykes 10 of their last 12 league clashes, making the away side eager to prove their belong on the pitch

Norwich forward Nelson Oliveira will be hoping to be fit and ready to play after recovering from a calf injury. Speaking to the Norwich club website, manager Daniel Farke spoke of Oliveria’s recent success on the practice pitch: “Nelson Oliveira isn’t too bad. On Tuesday he returned to team training without problems and is available.”

Alex Tettey, Alex Pritchard, Matt Jarvis and Steven Naismith, are all out with injuries for the yellow and green. Farke claims a return to action isn’t too far away for some, but they will not be ready for Saturday’s game. Long term injuries for players have caused them to miss the start of the season putting the pressure on the Canaries. Meaning they’re not able to put their best feet forward.

Farke has also stated they’re not happy with home performances, netting only three home goals in October, including being shutout on Halloween against league leading Wolverhampton.

Barnsley will be out for blood having not won at Carrow Road against Norwich in 80 years, that’s 17 games since 1937. Winger, Lloyd Isgrove, is out with a knee injury after their recent win over Birmingham City.  After sharing a video of Barnsley FC on his personal Twitter feed, being on the sidelines will be tough to handle.

Norwich have lost 5 of their last 6 league matches in November, including their last 2 home league games. Barnsley will be hoping to take advantage of this and turn around their losing streak when it comes to facing Norwich City. The south Yorkshire side currently stand at 16th in the league, three points behind  Norwich in 13th.

However, speculation is  following the Tykes after rumours boss, Paul Heckingbottom, could be going for the vacancy at Sunderland. He has however stated he’s had ‘No contact with the Black Cats’. He added ‘Everyone knows how much I love it here’ leaving fans comforted for tomorrow’s game.
