The manager of a new Leeds gym says that he hopes that it will play a vital role in the heart of the community.

Just Fitness will open in the Shine Collective building on Harehills Road and the duo behind the gym, Jonathan Carrington, 25, and Gavin O’Malley, 35, can’t wait to throw the doors open.

Jonathan said: “I think coming in here could really help young people.

“The gym could contribute to getting people off the street and if we can get them in here training, it could keep them from doing other things.

It is hoped that low prices at Just Fitness will make the gym accessible to the local community.

The gym will also hold women-only classes.

Jonathan said: “Some people feel uncomfortable with mixed classes, so to have some separate classes will go down really well.

“Many women in the Asian community can’t train in front of men so to cater for them will be good.

“Hopefully this will be a space where everyone feels comfortable and there is a community around here that has a need for that service, so been able to provide that will be great.”

Jonathan said that the response in the community has been positive and that he is looking forward to welcoming new customers in the next few days.
