Marco Silva continues to make progress at Hull

By Ben Guzdek

Since being appointed as the head man at Hull at the beginning of the transfer window, Marco Silva has made a name for himself, guiding the Tigers to their third consecutive home win.

In his first three weeks, the 39-year-old already has two wins in four games, including a recent win against Manchester United in the EFL Cup semi-final and a third round win against relegation competitors, Swansea City.

His Portuguese friend, Jose Mourinho spoke to the Hull Daily Mail and says he’s “not shocked” when being asked to share his thoughts on Silva’s progress.

Mourinho remarked:  “They sold, they bought, they got players on loan. They got players that Marco knows well, that he knows from Portugal and Greece. They are already connected with the manager’s ideas. I think he was clever.”
The new man has to deal with the injury blows of the regular first team players such as record-signing Ryan Mason. Not to a forget potential exit from the club’s top goal scorer Robert Snodgrass but the fans have been impressed and couldn’t flaw his efforts.

Local Hull supporters are feeling positive about Silvia’s start, and are starting to have hope in a club that hasn’t given their supporters much to have hope in this season.

Nathan Lawler, 18, says “We’ve had a few managers who have made positive impacts like Phil Brown and the tremendous success he brought to the club and Steve Bruce becoming a firm fans favourite but I haven’t seen a manager who has been able to rally the team together like Marco Silva.

“The team are playing with confidence and a togetherness that we haven’t seen at the club for a while”

Becky Richardson says: “We’ve been playing really good since he started to manage us, we may now have a chance of staying up, he’s made some new good signings also and last night’s game was a great performance against Man Utd.

“I think he will have a real good impact on Hull now”

The Tigers have a tough month of February ahead of them, with fixtures against Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal in successive weekends.
