Man dies after collision with wall.

A MAN has died after a car crashed into a wall in Holcombe Brook, Bury.
The Vauxhall Astra Club crashed into the stone wall at the junction of Longsight Road with Bolton Road West, near Hoysters wine bar, early on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called out shortly before 6.15am but the 56-year-old-man was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering serious injuries.
Paula Hitchen, who lives across the road from where the incident happened, said: “It was about 6.05am when I heard a bang and it almost felt like the floor moved.
“There was some smoke coming from the engine and the stone wall was scattered all over the road and pavement.
“The car was crushed and a paramedic who lives across the road came over to try and help but the driver’s door had jammed.
“Another man tried to help by pulling the driver out through the back of the car and they carried out CPR until all the emergency services arrived.”
DC Diana Dyer-Barron of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time, who are being looked after by specially trained officers.”
Road closures were in place on Holcombe Road, Longsight Road and Bolton Road West and roads reopened at 1pm.
Ms Hitchen, who lives above Hoysters wine bar, said: “This isn’t the first time a crash has happened here. It’s quite a busy road.”
Several major incidents have happened on this road before, including one in April 2015 where a driver had to be cut free from their vehicle.
In August 2016, mum-of-three Clare King was left paralysed and brain damaged after a driver rammed into her whilst they were trying to evade police.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the car, or who has dash-cam footage from around the time the collision happened, to share it with them.
