A 37-year-old Keighley man was arrested last night as part of the investigation into the theft of computing and DVD equipment from a cancer ward at Leeds General Infirmary.
The equipment was stolen earlier this month from the pavilion, an area of the children’s cancer ward run by the Candlelighters charity which provides rest and relaxation for patients.
A mobile phone and a laptop have been recovered.
The man was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.
Inspector Richard Clarke, the head of Leeds City Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are very much aware of the high level of public interest in these offences given the location in which they have occurred and we are conducting a full and comprehensive investigation into them.
“The arrest of this man and the recovery of some of the stolen items are significant developments and we will be continuing our enquiries.
“We are very grateful to all the members of the public who have assisted us with information but we would ask that people exercise caution, particularly around what information they post on social media that could potentially impact on our active investigation.”
